We’ve always known country was cool…Bacon has become oh so popular, but it’s always reigned supreme in the Appalachian Mountains. With rural frugality almost an obsession, mountaineers have historically eaten every part of the pig, from the ears to the lips to the feet. This way of eating and cooking has become a national obsession; Mockingbird Events wanted to create an event to bring it back home.
What started as a house party has become a weekend celebrating swine and supporting Mockingbird Events’ philosophy: the greatest good = pleasure and happiness for all. BaconFest celebrates bacon; gives cooks a chance to cook at the source; and creates a weekend that is fresh, utilitarian, dynamic, educational, progressive, and sustainable.
